Online Weekly Assessments

With this Hybrid English class, we don't have a choice but to use online assessments, but I like them. I don't always look at online assessments as work sometimes. I like online weekly assessments because we are constantly thinking and going back to things that we have learned in class. The assessments that we have in class aren't too hard either. I think it's also good because with us being as tech savvy as we are now, it's more natural because we're already used to being on social media.

Colleague's Post

I agreed with Willie's post about his Doc3 when he said "My doc3 paper was one of the most challenging papers that i had to write this year. ...Its like i have to stretch some of the ideas that i really want to talk about". I agree because my topic is a little difficult to writer about as well because there isn't a lot about it other than what people already know. Another post was about Peer Reviewing by Eriana and she stated, "You have to remember to try not to come off as rude to your reader. Make sure your reader knows that you are just trying to help them get a better grade. The reader must remember to not take everything to the heart as well." I 100% agree! When critiquing, you shouldn't come off rude to others and some people also need to learn how to take criticism.

Writing my Doc3

When starting my Doc3, I had to keep in mind how the essay was supposed to sound to the reader. One thing that helps me when I'm typing my paper is that I re-read it to make sure that it still stays on topic. One thing that doesn't help me stay on task is the fact that with my topic, I don't have an issue it's difficult to persuade the audience to think like me, when it isn't that type of topic....I hope that makes sense.

Give and Receive Peer Advice

When it comes to giving peer advice, sometimes I don't like doing it. Not because I don't want to read the different essays(because some of them are interesting), but because I don't know how some people may take it. I know that in order to get better, you have to correct what's wrong but I think some people get upset when they get critiques. I try to stay away from correcting their grammatical errors, because I shouldn't be solely focused on that, I should focus on the point of the paper and how it all flows together. However, sometimes I do think if I don't correct it, the teacher will count off points and I wouldn't want that for them. For me, critiquing is all in the approach. I try to say things like: "maybe you should try this" or "The paper may flow better if you add this...", instead of, "this paper sounds stupid" or "You need to fix all them mistake you got".  When it comes to receiving peer advice, I feel as if I can take it, because it helps me to make my paper(s) better.

My Mean Mug Face

Soooooooo, I'm gonna talk about my face. lol. I've heard from other people(Brandon) that I look mean. I don't know why, I don't try to look it. I'm far from mean....unless you make me mad, but that's with anybody.....any who I like to think I'm a pretty cool person so I'm gonna try to make myself look more friendly cause I do understand what he mean't, so I'm trying Brandon!! I'm not about to just walk around here smiling though, lol. But we'll see how it goes. Peace Out Homies!

How I Revise My Document

I first thing I do before I begin to revise my documents is read them and make sure they make sense. If it does make sense, I try to think about other things that I could add to make my writing better. If my writing doesn't make sense, I change it to make it sound better and/or I add other things to it. There isn't one document that I've written, that I haven't had to revise. Another way I revise my documents would be to correct my grammatical errors, such as if my commas are in the wrong place or if I spelled a word incorrectly. I think it helps to revise because it helps us see how things aren't suppose to be written or how they are supposed to be written.

My Fav. Blog

My most favorite blog.....it would have to be the one about the childhood games. The reason being because I loved reading other people's blog and we all have at least played the same game before. It was cool to see that we all were kind of the same as children...fun and playful. I like writing this blog because it was really the only one that kind of brought back fun memories. The other blogs were either about wikipedia or how to write....that gets just a taaad boring, so it was cool to write about something else...interesting.

Analyzing Posts

One of the posts I read was by Keith Glover and he talked about his favorite childhood game when he stated, "My favorite game was probably hide and seek just because I loved to run as a child." I think after reading a few blog posts by different people, I can conclude that almost everyone's favorite childhood game was Hide and Go Seek, including me. Another post I read was by Timothy Holzer and he stated, "It's the little things in life that make all the difference, so when you have to start living life on your own and doing grown up things all on your own, you realize you're no longer a kid."  I totally agree because the older I get, the more I see than I am slowly becoming an adult and it freaks me out sometimes, because I realize that I'm not longer going to need my mom or dad to provide for me....financially! lol. But seriously, I'm not going to always be able to go to my parents whenever I need something. It'll be my turn to take some serious responsibility.

Child/Adult Conflicts

I think some child/adult conflicts start with the fact that the adults want the children to grow up like them. I can't count on my hand how many times I've heard, "Back when I was growing up...". I think most adults should kind of get the fact that times have changed, in their minds and just accept it because it isn't going to change back. Another thing I think causes Child and Adult conflicts is the fact that the children that don't want to listen to the older people. Just because the way we're growing up now is different, doesn't make what the adults are telling us wrong. We shouldn't all of a sudden get upset. I'm not saying we can't disagree, but the way we show our disagreement with authority is the problem.

Childhood Games

I Love this subject. Although I played a lot of childhood games, I think my most favorite ones would be Hide'n'Go Seek, Heads Up, 7-Up and Marco Polo. But seriously, whenever I get in the pool with my family or friends we still play it now so I can't consider that a childhood game. I would usually play Hide'n'Go Seek with my cousins and we would play it in the dark, which would make it harder, a little scarier, and whole lot more dangerous, so we couldn't play it for too long. I also loved to play Heads Up, 7-Up. We would play it in school sometimes when we were good that day. It was pretty fun, until the kids would start to cheat by looking at the shoes of the person who tapped them. I've played a whole bunch of other games too, but those were just a few.
