Using Google Drive in Class
I like using Google Drive in class. It makes it easier to share things with the teacher or vice-versa. I think it's very convenient. I like the fact that you can make papers, slides and more. I also like the fact that more than one person can work on a group project without it shutting down. Everything is also connected together, so if you have a Google drive, you have a Gmail account for your mail.

Online Weekly Assessments
With this Hybrid English class, we don't have a choice but to use online assessments, but I like them. I don't always look at online assessments as work sometimes. I like online weekly assessments because we are constantly thinking and going back to things that we have learned in class. The assessments that we have in class aren't too hard either. I think it's also good because with us being as tech savvy as we are now, it's more natural because we're already used to being on social media.

Colleague's Post
I agreed with Willie's post about his Doc3 when he said "My doc3 paper was one of the most challenging papers that i had to write this year. ...Its like i have to stretch some of the ideas that i really want to talk about". I agree because my topic is a little difficult to writer about as well because there isn't a lot about it other than what people already know. Another post was about Peer Reviewing by Eriana and she stated, "You have to remember to try not to come off as rude to your reader. Make sure your reader knows that you are just trying to help them get a better grade. The reader must remember to not take everything to the heart as well." I 100% agree! When critiquing, you shouldn't come off rude to others and some people also need to learn how to take criticism.

Writing my Doc3
When starting my Doc3, I had to keep in mind how the essay was supposed to sound to the reader. One thing that helps me when I'm typing my paper is that I re-read it to make sure that it still stays on topic. One thing that doesn't help me stay on task is the fact that with my topic, I don't have an issue it's difficult to persuade the audience to think like me, when it isn't that type of topic....I hope that makes sense.

Give and Receive Peer Advice
When it comes to giving peer advice, sometimes I don't like doing it. Not because I don't want to read the different essays(because some of them are interesting), but because I don't know how some people may take it. I know that in order to get better, you have to correct what's wrong but I think some people get upset when they get critiques. I try to stay away from correcting their grammatical errors, because I shouldn't be solely focused on that, I should focus on the point of the paper and how it all flows together. However, sometimes I do think if I don't correct it, the teacher will count off points and I wouldn't want that for them. For me, critiquing is all in the approach. I try to say things like: "maybe you should try this" or "The paper may flow better if you add this...", instead of, "this paper sounds stupid" or "You need to fix all them mistake you got". When it comes to receiving peer advice, I feel as if I can take it, because it helps me to make my paper(s) better.

My Mean Mug Face
Soooooooo, I'm gonna talk about my face. lol. I've heard from other people(Brandon) that I look mean. I don't know why, I don't try to look it. I'm far from mean....unless you make me mad, but that's with anybody.....any who I like to think I'm a pretty cool person so I'm gonna try to make myself look more friendly cause I do understand what he mean't, so I'm trying Brandon!! I'm not about to just walk around here smiling though, lol. But we'll see how it goes. Peace Out Homies!

How I Revise My Document
I first thing I do before I begin to revise my documents is read them and make sure they make sense. If it does make sense, I try to think about other things that I could add to make my writing better. If my writing doesn't make sense, I change it to make it sound better and/or I add other things to it. There isn't one document that I've written, that I haven't had to revise. Another way I revise my documents would be to correct my grammatical errors, such as if my commas are in the wrong place or if I spelled a word incorrectly. I think it helps to revise because it helps us see how things aren't suppose to be written or how they are supposed to be written.

My Fav. Blog
My most favorite blog.....it would have to be the one about the childhood games. The reason being because I loved reading other people's blog and we all have at least played the same game before. It was cool to see that we all were kind of the same as children...fun and playful. I like writing this blog because it was really the only one that kind of brought back fun memories. The other blogs were either about wikipedia or how to write....that gets just a taaad boring, so it was cool to write about something else...interesting.

Analyzing Posts
One of the posts I read was by Keith Glover and he talked about his favorite childhood game when he stated, "My favorite game was probably hide and seek just because I loved to run as a child." I think after reading a few blog posts by different people, I can conclude that almost everyone's favorite childhood game was Hide and Go Seek, including me. Another post I read was by Timothy Holzer and he stated, "It's the little things in life that make all the difference, so when you have to start living life on your own and doing grown up things all on your own, you realize you're no longer a kid." I totally agree because the older I get, the more I see than I am slowly becoming an adult and it freaks me out sometimes, because I realize that I'm not longer going to need my mom or dad to provide for me....financially! lol. But seriously, I'm not going to always be able to go to my parents whenever I need something. It'll be my turn to take some serious responsibility.

Child/Adult Conflicts
I think some child/adult conflicts start with the fact that the adults want the children to grow up like them. I can't count on my hand how many times I've heard, "Back when I was growing up...". I think most adults should kind of get the fact that times have changed, in their minds and just accept it because it isn't going to change back. Another thing I think causes Child and Adult conflicts is the fact that the children that don't want to listen to the older people. Just because the way we're growing up now is different, doesn't make what the adults are telling us wrong. We shouldn't all of a sudden get upset. I'm not saying we can't disagree, but the way we show our disagreement with authority is the problem.

Childhood Games
I Love this subject. Although I played a lot of childhood games, I think my most favorite ones would be Hide'n'Go Seek, Heads Up, 7-Up and Marco Polo. But seriously, whenever I get in the pool with my family or friends we still play it now so I can't consider that a childhood game. I would usually play Hide'n'Go Seek with my cousins and we would play it in the dark, which would make it harder, a little scarier, and whole lot more dangerous, so we couldn't play it for too long. I also loved to play Heads Up, 7-Up. We would play it in school sometimes when we were good that day. It was pretty fun, until the kids would start to cheat by looking at the shoes of the person who tapped them. I've played a whole bunch of other games too, but those were just a few.

Conflict with a family member
Whooooo....well I don't have a conflict in particular, but I do know that me and grandma fuss a lot. Whether it's about something she "doesn't like for me to wear" or "the way I drive". I love my grandma, I do, but I don't like that we argue so much. I think with us being the only two females in the house, it causes some tension.....I don't know! I think I'm ready to just leave and be on my own so we can miss each other, because with us being with each other everyday(which we aren't used to cause I just moved in with them some months ago), we get tired of each other quite quickly. So that sums up this blog, pretty much! Have a great day!

Making my writing more Emphatic
To make my writing more emphatic and/or more "expressive", I have to first have an understanding of what my topic is. I then have to find good points to make and why I chose those points to put into my paper. Instead of putting all of my good points that I have in the beginning, I should put them at the end so I can have a strong ending to my papers. Staying on topic could also make my papers more emphatic, because when your point isn't clear to the reader, it throws them off a bit. I have had some issues with getting off topic but I honestly can connect whatever I'm talking about to my main point, it just doesn't read that way.

Role of Guns in America
The role of guns in America as of now is terrible, From people shooting up homes to people shooting up schools. I, personally don't think that the "role" of guns is going to get better. Sorry to be pessimistic, but the way this world is set up, people are literally going crazy. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad about carrying a gun, just as long as you only use it when you feel as if your life may be in danger. There was also some talk about whether they should ban guns altogether and I don't quite know if I agree with that. I think maybe they should look into your background to decide if you should be able to get a license to own a gun.

My Nuclear Family
Well, sad to say, I don't have a 'nuclear' family. I have two sisters, one older and one younger, but my mom and dad are divorced. Both have continued their lives with different people. I don't really want to disclose all of my personal info., but I will say that I don't feel as if there is anything major in my family that needs to be worked on or changed. When Manning stated "I could never find him at one of my orchestra concerts. But at my lacrosse games, he would be there in the stands, with an angry look...."(138). My parents have come and will continue to come to the events that were/are important to me. I can't recall being just upset because my parent(s) never showed up to something that they should have. Although my parents aren't together, I feel as if everything happens for a reason. Plus, if they hadn't have gotten a divorce, I wouldn't have to most loving little sister in the world...Love You Pooh!

My colleague's post
One of my peers ( http://freshman1101.blogspot.com/) had a post about her grandparents having their 50th wedding anniversary, and my grandparents also celebrated their 50th. I just thought that was sweet. Another on of my colleagues ( http://english1101brown.blogspot.com/) had a post about her wiki topic and how she changed it from neonatal nurse to lung ventilation. I thought it was a smart move for her to pick something she didn't know anything about so she could learn as she pursues her field in nursing.

Best Information I learned about my Wiki topic
Maybe I should change it, but maybe it's too late. Or maybe I'm too lazy. I haven't learned much but the "best" information I've learned about my Wiki topic would be who published the book. It was published by Penguin Random House. I thought it was cute. Another "best" thing I learned was that you can buy books off of the website about the person of my topic. The website it colorful and very interesting to look at, especially if you've already read the books. It just kind of brings back some memories.

Effective Intro..
An effective intro should basically hit all the high points of the topic without getting too detailed. For example, if your topic is on shoes, you could put what shoes are and what you use them for without too many details(names of shoes, names of companies that make shoes, etc.). Another way to make your introduction effective is to make it appealing and/or interesting. The beginning of a paragraph or paper or whatever, is supposed to pull the reader in and make them want to read it. Basically the introduction is how people decide if they want to keep reading it or say "Boo, this sucks!", and move on to something else.

Colleagues Post
In one of my Colleague's Post, she talked about men and women stereotypes and she explained how men stereotype women and also how other(older) women stereotype women. (http://chloesenglblog.blogspot.com/) She stated, "Men are usually stereotyped by other men and not many women say something about this, but for women we are stereotyped by men and women" I agree because I have been told by an older women how to act or what to say during certain situations because I am a female and it may not be or seem appropriate. Another one of my colleagues had a blog about Finding Humor in a strange situation and she talked about an instance where her and her mom were in a restaurant and this guy came up and was trying to basically hit on her mom and she made humor out the situation by....well if you haven't read it, go read it...it's funny. Her blog is http://monicias.blogspot.com/. But back to what I was saying... I could agree because she said, "Now I don't play about my mom like at all", and I don't either.

What I have learned about my Wikipedia Topic
For my Wikipedia topic, I wouldn't say that I have learned anything. I have more so had a "OOOH I remember that", moment. Being that I chose a topic that I new something about to begin with, I haven't had a chance to learn anything....I don't really know if that's good or bad. I will say, that because I know a lot about my topic, it's been kind of difficult finding new things to add because just about everything that's already on the page, is all that needs to be known about the topic. Maybe next time I'll pick a topic that challenges me instead of the opposite.

Men and Women Stereotypes
To be honest, I feel as though Women Stereotypes are worse than men. It's almost as if people look for us to fail in things sometimes because we are females. One of my pet peeves is when someone says, "You're really good at [insert sport, subject, ect. here] to be a girl", Like whaaaaa? What does that mean? You're trying to say that women can't do things any man can? I get that it may seem odd for women to be body builders or even the women that play football, which is "supposed" to be just a man's sport...(*hint *hint....stereotype), but don't make it seem as if women are just put on earth to cook, clean, and other house chores. I personally don't hear a lot of men stereotypes. but the ones I do hear: "All men are dogs" or "Once a cheater always a cheater", I don't agree with them. My grandparents have been married for 50 years and I know for a fact my granddad isn't a dog and I know a few guys that have cheated and make a complete 180, because they learned from their mistakes, but I just know one thing, I'm gonna do what makes me happy regardless of any stereotype.

Organization of my Wiki
My article is organized for the most part. There are a few things that need to be changed around because they're in the wrong place, but I think it's a good article. There isn't a whole bunch of information that could go into the article, but I think once everything I can think of that makes sense to be in it.... is in it, the article will be perfect.

Finding Humor in a Strange Situation
I'm a goofy person whether I'm in or out of a strange situation. I can honestly have fun by myself, but it depends on the situation. For example: If I ran into my "boyfriend" in the mall and he was with another girl, that would be more of a dangerous situation than strange. But if I were to walk into a room and my dad has on female clothes(not that he actually would), I would probably start laughing and tell him he looks pretty good. #LoveYouDaddy. So for me, it honestly depends on the situation because I don't find humor in everything.

Readings in my Wikipedia Topic
As you may have read in my other blog about my Wiki topic, you may know that my topic is Junie B. Jones. The article itself was C-Class. I'm hoping to be able to add more to it so it can up a class. So far, it's going good, but I think as it goes on it may get a little difficult because there isn't a whole bunch of information about Junie.

Value of MLA and APA
To be totally honest, I have only dealt with MLA format. In high school that was the only style we used. It has helped me with my papers in college because it kind of comes as second nature because I'm so used to having to use it. I do think that they are both important because you need a certain type of structure when you're writing your essays. If there was no format to use, then everybody's essays wouldn't look uniform and it would probably throw the teacher off a little because it might be too much. For example, I know some people like to underline or bold their titles and you aren't supposed to do that in MLA. I also know that some people try to make their essays seem longer by making the font bigger and with MLA, the font size has to 12, and the font itself has to be Times New Roman. I was guilty of that before I was told to use MLA, but I'm glad I stopped because it honestly took away from my essay. It made it seem corny. So that's all I have to say about MLA and APA writing styles.....See Ya!

Sloppy or Neat?
When it comes down to sloppy vs. neat, I would consider myself in between. For example, my room is a little sloppy because I have clothes everywhere. I'm not a neat freak but I don't let my stuff get all un-organized. Every now and then I'll tidy up but I feel as if my room won't ever stay clean like it should because I'm constantly trying to figure out what clothes I'm going to wear or what shoes I'm going to put on. I'm trying to get better with cleaning--maybe once a week, just so I don't continue to trip over my shoes or have to move the clothes on my bed over so I don't have to sleep on them.

Gay Marriage..
My opinion on gay marriage is simple. I don't support it. I'm not homophobic and I don't judge people based on the fact of them being gay but I don't support them and what they do either. In Kathy Pollitt's essay What's Wrong with Gay Marriage? she stated "Whatever may have been the case in the past, what undergirds marriage in most people's minds today is not some sociobiological theory about reproduction or male socialization-----It's love, commitment, stability" (461). I agree that marriage is about love, commitment, and stability, but I also know for a fact that two men or two women that are in a relationship can't reproduce. God made Adam and Eve(Man and Woman) for a reason. He didn't intend for us the be in relationships with someone of the same sex because he is all for reproduction and creating new life and is against being effeminate. I feel as though "we", as a society, have ignored the fact that this it isn't the way he wants us to live. Some people use excuses such as: "God loves everyone", and true he does love you, but just because he loves you, doesn't mean that he won't punish you. In fact, Hebrews 12:6 states "because the lord disciplines the ones he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son". So to conclude, gay marriage is something I don't support.

My Wikipedia Topic
My Wikipedia topic is about the children's books about a little girl named Junie B. Jones. All of the books are written by Barbara Parks, but they are in Junie's perspective. As most people may already know, Junie B. Jones is a feisty and funny 5, "almost 6 year old" girl when the series of books were published, but the books followed her up unto 1st grade. When I was younger, Junie B. Jones' books were just about the only thing I read. She was funny and we could relate to some things because she wasn't that much younger than I was. I have actually learned more about Junie B. Jones books now that I am finding information to put on my Wikipedia page.

My Writer's Voice in Wikipedia
When in Wikipedia, I have to use more of an informational approach to my articles. The articles are suppose to have things that people can learn from. It's kind of like a box of cereal or a carton of milk. Whenever you buy something, it doesn't matter what, you're going to always have a "content" section that tells you what all is in whatever it is that you're eating. The same things goes for Wikipedia. I am there to provide information for people to read and understand.

How I handle a reader in Wikipedia
I haven't really dealt with Wikipedia a lot, so I'm not quite sure with how to deal with a reader, but when I finally get how to use Wikipedia and how to write articles and respond to readers, I'll figure it out.

Wikipedia Project
This Wikipedia project is new to me because I've never used Wikipedia before. My high school English teachers didn't like it, but now I know you can't just post anything you want. What you post has to be verified. I think Wikipedia is a good way to give out good and valid information about anything you know or want people to know.

How My Doc1 Handles its Thesis
I think my Doc 1 handles its thesis pretty well. The essay explains the different steps it takes to achieve the thesis' meaning. I think it gives good explanations as to why its important to know that what you post can harm or help your future.

How I handle a reader in my Doc 1
How I handle a reader in my Doc 1 is simple. I read the comments, and I decide on if the changes they want me to make, make sense with the point I'm trying to get by.

My Profession
My major right now is Art. I love working with Sculpture for the most part. I feel as if my profession would be a sculptor or an artist(painting)...*hint*, the major. I would also be okay with teaching art, but I would prefer to be my own boss because I would feel more comfortable with me being responsible for things because it'll make me work harder.
Introduction
My name is Sierra Smith, I am 18 years old and from Albany, Ga. I attended Lee County High School in Leesburg, Ga. I am a freshman here at Middle Georgia State University. I think of myself as a friendly, outgoing person, but I don't like for people to mistake that as a weakness.
